SITCH DESIGNS, designing for a variety of situations and mixed realities.

Portia Malik is an award-winning designer, specializing in 3D environments. Sitch Designs is a platform for Portia to showcase her 3D generalist skillset of modeling, motion graphics, UV mapping, texturing, lighting, and digital matte painting. Portia enjoys working across a variety of mixed realities from the tangible to the augmented and virtual; allowing many more people to engage with her work.

Portia graduated with a STEM-designated Masters of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and Architectural Association and holds a BA(Hons) of Architecture from The University of Newcastle. As a graduate student and teaching assistant, Portia taught a combination of 3D modeling software to classes of 90 pupils; sharing her passion for working with low-poly, sub-d, and NURBS workflows. Having been awarded both the prestigious Dales and Hart Howerton fellowships, Portia has lectured in New York and San Francisco. Since graduating Portia has been a guest design critique at her alma maters and Pratt Institute.

With an exemplary eye for detail and understanding of scale following her four years of professional experience in Architectural practice in New York and London; Portia has worked on ground breaking residential, hospitality, and sports projects from concept to completion. Including the first purpose-built training facilities for professional women’s football for Manchester City and Melbourne City football clubs and Restaurant Gütsch in the Swiss Alps; the highest altitude Michelin starred restaurant.

Away from her desk Portia is constantly drawing inspiration from her travels and has visited all seven continents and over 70 countries. Portia’s love for the water led to her winning The London Festival of Architecture’s Pews & Perches competition and permanently installing her PEEKABOOBENCH at London’s Love Open Water Facility, encouraging others to take up swimming. Currently, as a volunteer surf therapy mentor with The Wave Project, Portia is helping young people to improve their physical and mental well-being through surfing.
